Bethel was founded in 1840 by two dedicated men looking for a place to share the gospel of Jesus
Christ with the southern part of Newberry County. Meeting in a small log cabin church, Bethel
started with only 25 members. Today we average around 200 in worship.
Moving to our present location in 1906, the core of our present sanctuary was built. Over
the years the building was expanded with the addition of class rooms and in the 1980's a family life center was added.
Building upon the blessings of yesterday, in 2001 we expanded our worship space to seat around 350.
Over the years, Bethel has been blessed with caring and committed members. During times
of war and strife, Bethel has been a place of peace and concern. Today, through various ministries, from feeding
the hungry to Disaster Relief, from backyard Bible clubs to all the normal ministry groups in a church, we continue to reach into
our community and world to make a difference in the lives of people in the name of Jesus Christ who has made such a difference
in our lives.
